Eucalyptus (commonly called Gums) are native to Australian and dominate the landscape. There are over 800 species of eucalyptus which can adapt to almost every climatic condition and are now being planted in many other parts of the world.

The trunks are varied and come in many colours and textures. They change dramatically during the seasons to display rich tones of golden browns, soft blue-greys, ghostly whites, pinks, oranges and rusts.

About three-quarters of
Australian forests are eucalypt forests and most shed their bark
every season to reveal the new bark underneath. The dead bark sheds in large slabs, in ribbons, or in small flakes, depending on the species. In some species the sap breaks through to the surface and mixes in with the shedding bark as it runs down the trunk.
